In 2000, St. Martinus University Faculty of Medicine was established in Curaçao with a clear academic purpose. The institution was founded to provide students from diverse backgrounds with access to medical education and a defined pathway toward becoming physicians.
From its early years, the university focused on building a structured curriculum supported by faculty committed to academic discipline and clinical preparation. Over time, the program expanded in both depth and scope, supported by accreditation from AAEPO, a WFME recognized authority. This recognition reflects adherence to international standards in medical education.
Across twenty five years, the university has developed a global student community and strengthened its academic framework. Graduates have progressed into clinical practice and residency training across multiple healthcare systems, including the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. They serve in hospitals, teaching environments, and patient care settings, contributing to healthcare delivery across regions.
This growth reflects the continued work of faculty, administrators, and institutional leadership who have shaped the academic direction of the university. Their contributions have supported program development, student progression, and the expansion of clinical opportunities.
On October 11, 2025, the university marked its 25 year milestone at the Curaçao Marriott Beach Resort. The event brought together students and members of the academic community representing different countries, reflecting the international nature of the institution.
This milestone represents the progress of an institution built on academic structure and continuity. The university continues to advance its programs and prepare future physicians for clinical practice across global healthcare systems.
